True Love — Live Happily Ever After
How do you define love? How do you define happiness? How do you know you’re in a successful marriage? (I wish I knew. If I had all the answers, I’d be a world-renowned marriage counselor!)
According to Dr. Gary Chapman, pastor, marriage counselor, and author of numerous bestsellers on love and marriage, “Perfect couples only live on wedding cakes. Marriage requires communication — talking and listening — working as a team. Marriage is a safe place to work on your relationships together.”
In The Five Love Languages, Dr. Chapman discusses the languages people use to communicate with one another:
- Words of affirmation
- Gifts
- Acts of Service (doing something for others)
- Quality Time (give undivided attention)
- Physical Touch (holding hands, kissing, sex)
(Take this quiz. What’s your love language?)
Here’s another word of wisdom from Dr. Chapman:
Communication is to the marriage what breathing is to the body. Without breath, we die. Without communication, marriage dies.
Last but not least, I share with you on this Valentine’s Day, lives of a picture-perfect couple (no, they’re not on wedding cakes):
What’s Your True Color?
Are you a thinker, always analyzing (GREEN)? Do you prefer inspiring people and building their self-esteem (BLUE)? Are you the responsible one who is always on time and keeping everyone else on time (GOLD)? Or do you thrive on entertaining and persuading people (ORANGE)?
Take this free quiz ! Find your true color!
(True Colors, found in 1979, is a personality system — a graphic presentation of Keirsey’s Temperament and the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator.)
