Citizen Journalism – What Is It?

Citizen journalism is our voice, our thoughts, our catalyst for change!

The Industrial Revolution modernized our world. People no longer had to grow their food, build homes, sew clothes, or spend hours and days to get to the next town.

Like all good things, however, modernization — efficiency and mass production — came with a price.  A HUGE PRICE.  People sold their souls. They became robots. The majority followed orders and performed their jobs, their duties and routines.

The public first got a taste of “real-time” when television and satellites disseminated live broadcast news. Those who controlled the media controlled minds. Those who controlled minds controlled society.  News, increasingly, came from the top — from the rich and the powerful — to the masses (the majority of the American workforce).

Mergers and acquisitions accelerated media monopoly. Soon enough, the media became out-of-touch with its literate audience.  Subscriptions dropped. Advertisements dropped. Revenues dropped.

Meanwhile, people became busier by the day; trying to accomplish one more thing in the name of efficiency and productivity. Neighbors became strangers. No one knew anyone. No one had time.  We became too efficient, too isolated.

In the midst of our frantic quest for productivity and material gains, we lost ourselves; our lives, our souls, our humanity.

BUT the pendulum SWINGS.  We’ve gone too far.  ENOUGH!  NO MORE PRODUCTION, NO MORE ISOLATION, NO MORE STATUS, NO MORE POWER, NO MORE LIES!!!!!

Then came the Internet — the final blow — to all who suppressed the voices of the masses; those who abused their wealth and power!  Silence no more. The people speak out!  We may not have wealth. We may not have power. But when our voices become one, we WILL be heard. The tides will change. The tables will turn.

Beware self-serving politicians. Beware corrupt leaders. Beware all bullies.  The citizens have awakened. The media revolution has only begun.  No more power, no more lies.  We are all human.  We are all equal.

Our voices will be heard!
